Spiti Valley

Day 1

Your Spiti Valley Bike Trip from Chandigarh starts early as you ride out of the city towards the hills. The route gradually climbs through Shimla, where the plains give way to winding mountain roads and dense pine forests. As you continue ahead, the air turns cooler and the surroundings quieter.

By evening, you reach Narkanda, a small town known for its scenic beauty and apple orchards. After check-in, take some time to rest and adjust to the altitude before the journey moves deeper into the Himalayas.

Day 2

After breakfast, begin your ride towards Chitkul, one of the most beautiful villages on this route. The road passes through Rampur and follows the Sutlej River before entering the stunning Kinnaur region.

As you approach Sangla Valley, the landscape opens up with snow-capped peaks and river views. From Karcham, take the turn towards Baspa Valley and continue riding alongside the river until you reach Chitkul.

Spend your evening exploring the village and enjoy a meal at the well-known last dhaba of India, a popular stop for travellers crossing this region.

Day 3

Today’s ride takes you closer to Spiti Valley. Travel along the Indo-Tibet Highway, one of the most dramatic mountain roads in the region. On the way, witness the famous Khab Sangam where the Spiti and Sutlej rivers meet, a major highlight of the journey.

Continue towards Nako, a quiet village located near the Indo-Tibet border. After reaching, visit Nako Monastery and spend time near the lake, where the reflections of mountains create a calm setting. The evening here is peaceful, giving you time to relax before heading deeper into Spiti.

Day 4

Ride further into Spiti Valley as the terrain becomes more rugged and barren. Shortly after Sumdo, take a short detour to Gue village, known for its preserved 500-year-old mummy.

Continue towards Tabo, home to one of the oldest monasteries in the Himalayas, often referred to as the Ajanta of the Himalayas.

On the way to Kaza, you also pass through Pin Valley, a region known for its vast landscapes and rare wildlife like the snow leopard.

By evening, reach Kaza, the main town of Spiti, and settle in for the night.

Day 5

This day is dedicated to exploring the villages around Kaza. Start your ride towards Komik, one of the highest motorable villages in the world. From there, continue to Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office, where you can send postcards from the mountains.

Next, head to Langza, known for its massive Buddha statue and fossil-rich land. Later, visit the iconic Key Monastery, a peaceful space surrounded by mountains.

Continue towards Kibber village and then to Chicham Bridge, one of the highest bridges in Asia. Return to Kaza by evening after a full day of exploration.

Day 6

After breakfast, begin your return journey towards Kalpa. The route retraces through familiar roads, but the changing light and perspective make it feel different.

As you descend, the barren landscapes slowly transition into greener surroundings. Reach Kalpa by evening, where you can witness stunning views of the Kinnaur Kailash range. Sunset here often paints the peaks in deep orange and red shades, creating a memorable end to the day.

Day 7

Ride towards Shimla as the terrain continues to change. The roads become smoother, and greenery returns after days of riding through cold desert landscapes.

Pass through small towns and valleys before reaching Shimla. After check-in, take some time to relax or explore the town at your own pace.

Day 8

Today’s ride takes you back from the mountains to the plains. The journey is smooth compared to earlier days, allowing you to enjoy the final stretch without rush.
